This was a government-funded project with an NGO that had limited resources and hard deadlines. I drafted the flow of the software, designed the user interface, led the software development efforts and conducted training on its usage.
In addition, we incorporated the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) database that is maintained by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and mapped reported symptoms to potential causes & diagnoses. This reduced the time it took GPs in shortlisting possible diagnoses and ordering the necessary medical tests.
I was later invited by PCDOM to the Open Source Healthcare Alliance conference hosted at UCLA, to co-present the system and field technical questions.
